From postal code to proof of delivery
Price it
Two postal codes, the pallets and their weight, the service and any special handling. Lanes with a house tariff or contract card return a firm price in under a second. Lanes with enough history return an estimate. Everything else goes to a dispatcher with a two-hour clock anywhere in Canada.
Book it
Pick the shipper and consignee from your address book or type them, set the pickup window, add PO and reference numbers, declare any dangerous goods, accept the terms. You get a PRO and BOL number, a printable bill of lading and 4 × 6 pallet labels for the driver.
Track it
A dispatcher tenders the load to a vetted carrier and confirms the pickup. Dispatched, picked up, out for delivery and delivered each email you and update a tracking link you can forward to the consignee. Proof of delivery lands on the shipment page.
Pay it
Prepay accounts get the invoice at booking, by card, pre-authorized debit or EFT. Approved credit accounts are invoiced at delivery on net terms. The invoice matches the quote unless the freight was misdeclared.
If something goes wrong
File a claim from the shipment page within the 60-day window; we acknowledge within 30 days and settle under the conditions of carriage. Dispute an invoice line with one click; undisputed amounts stay payable.
For your systems
API keys let your TMS quote, book and track; webhooks push status, quotes and invoices to you, signed. Ask for the developer page in your account. Brokers and 3PLs pulling rates for their own customers start on the partners page.

What is FreightSonar?
FreightSonar is a Canadian freight platform based in Markham, Ontario. One account prices LTL, full truckload, local cartage, hotshot, temperature-controlled and dangerous-goods freight across the country: instantly on the lanes we hold rates for, and through a dispatch desk within 2 business hours everywhere else. Bookings produce a bill of lading, tracking link, proof of delivery and one invoice, whichever carrier ends up hauling the freight.
Do I need a separate account with each carrier?
No. FreightSonar is the broker of record on every shipment: we book and pay the carrier, so your account covers every lane and every service we price. You quote once, book once, and get one invoice and one place to track the load and file a claim. Nothing changes when the freight moves on a different carrier next week.
Is the quote really the final price?
Yes, for the freight as declared. A firm price holds for 7 days after you take it, and the quote becomes the invoice. If the pieces, weight or site conditions differ at pickup or delivery, the re-rated line and any accessorial appear as their own lines with proof.
Can a broker, 3PL or forwarder buy freight here?
Yes. Register the organization as a carrier, broker or forwarder, give your GST/HST number and tick the interline declaration, and every quote and invoice on the account is GST/HST zero-rated on the whole subtotal, fuel included. You get the same prices the engine gives a shipper, so what you charge your own customer is yours to set. API keys and webhooks put the rates inside your own system.
Which areas do you cover?
All of Canada. Lanes across the West and into the Prairies price from our own tariffs and zone tables. Lanes into Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada usually price instantly as an estimate, which a dispatcher confirms before you book. Anything we cannot price instantly goes to a dispatcher, who answers within 2 business hours. Canada only, no parcel and no cross-border.
Do I need an account to get a price?
No. Quotes are free and instant without an account. Booking, tracking, invoices and your team's history need a free account, and a quote emailed to you can be claimed into one with one click.
How fast do you answer when a lane needs a dispatcher?
Within 2 business hours anywhere in Canada, and within 1 business hour on hotshot, which runs on its own clock. Business hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern, excluding federal statutory holidays; a request sent outside them is on the desk from the next opening, and your quote shows the exact time to expect the answer. The answer arrives by email as a firm, bookable price.
How do I pay?
New accounts prepay by card, pre-authorized debit or EFT when the invoice is issued at booking. Approved accounts are invoiced at delivery on net terms; apply for credit from the billing page.
What is your liability for loss or damage?
The uniform conditions of carriage apply: $4.41 per kilogram ($2.00 per pound) unless you declare a higher value at booking and pay the declared-value charge. Claims need written notice within 60 days of delivery and filing within 9 months.
Can carriers work with FreightSonar?
Yes. Carriers with a safety fitness certificate, cargo insurance of $100,000 or more and $2 million auto liability can register on the carriers page. Loads arrive as a rate confirmation you accept with one click; payment is net 30 from the signed proof of delivery, with quick-pay available.
